Mis primeros pasos en el mundo de la fotografía. My first steps in the world of photography.

Siempre había tenido la curiosidad de explorar el mundo de la fotografía, y no fue hasta hace unos seis meses (Junio 2012), que logré comprar mi primera cámara y comenzar con mis primeros pasos en esta fascinante aventura. Me considero un principiante, un entusiasta, que como un niño ha encontrado un juguete, que ahora considera su favorito. I had always wanted to explore the world of photography, and it wasn't until six months ago (June 2012) that I was able to buy my first camera and start taking my first steps in this fascinating adventure. I consider myself a beginner, an enthusiast, who, like a child, has found a toy which has become his favorite.

Pero lo más importante de esto no es si he logrado o no lo que buscaba antes de empezar a tomar fotos, sino lo que he descubierto después. Si en este momento tuviera que decir qué es lo más importante en un fotógrafo, sin duda alguna diría que la observación. La búsqueda de elementos, lugares o personas a quienes fotografiar ha cambiado radicalmente mi forma de ver mi entorno. Me he vuelto mucho más observador, y esto me hace apreciar mejor la naturaleza, el amanecer, el atardecer, las personas que me rodean, los ambientes donde trabajo. But without a doubt,  the most important thing here is not whether I found what I was looking for through photography or not, but what I've discovered later. If I had to say which is the most important thing in photography, I would say observation. Looking for places, people and other elements to take pictures of has dramatically changed the way in which I see my surroundings. I have become much more observant, and this makes me appreciate nature, a sunrise, a sunset, people around me and my workplaces better.

Quiero compartir un par de fotografías que he tomado, de temas muy diferentes, pero que resumen dos de mis grandes pasiones: la naturaleza y mi interés por viajar. I want to share a couple pictures that I've taken, from different subjects, which summarize two of my passions: nature and traveling.

Ardilla comiendo. Encontré esta ardilla un domingo en la mañana, mientras colgaba mi ropa en el tendedero. No se ahuyentó cuando me acerqué, así que pude capturar el momento en que comía. Squirrel eating. I found this squirrel in my backyard a sunday morning, while I was putting up my laundry in the line. It did not run away when I sneaked up, and I was able to capture the moment in which it ate.

Puerta de Brandemburgo, Berlín. Tomada durante mi reciente viaje a Alemania. Me llamó la atención los colores con que está iluminada, y el contraste que hace con el fondo oscuro de la noche. Brandenburg Gate, Berlin. Taken during my recent trip to Germany. The colors with which it is lit up, as well as the contrast with the dark background of the night caught my atenttion.
